Thought for the Week: The Courage to Soar in 24!

courage-to-soarLast week’s Thought for the Week was; “Breaking Free from Controlled Narratives” about how when we define our own narrative (rather than that of others) we not only empower ourselves, we also communicate far more authentically and powerfully.

If you haven’t had the chance to see it yet, you can catch up on this and all my previous blogs HERE.

As we approach a new year, many of us are reflecting on the past year and what we would ideally like to happen in the future.

I have been reflecting and have started writing a book, which is something I have wanted to do for a long time. As you will be aware, I enjoy writing – hence these “Thoughts for the Week”! So, now, am channelling all of these thoughts into my book and will let you know the title when it is done!

Last week, I spoke about the “Jonathan Livingston Seagull (JLS)” book. As we think about new beginnings in 2024, I’d like to share the significance of this book when I began my coaching and training business. Back then, I called it “Development Unlimited” because I believe that if we really want to achieve something, we can do it.

My logo was a seagull – a metaphor of Jonathan Livingston Seagull’s journey, that, as penned by Richard Bach, serves as a poignant reminder of the freedom that comes with embracing our true selves. Jonathan’s pursuit of flight was not merely about defying gravity; it was a quest to break free from the constraints that society, even his own flock, sought to impose. His story encourages us to question limitations and embrace the boundless potential within.

Even though my business has now evolved into “Thrive Coaching & Training” and my logo is a sunflower made up of 4 hearts, the essence of JLS lives on!

In a world often clouded by external expectations and societal norms, unveiling authenticity requires a conscious effort to look beyond the surface. It beckons us to question the narratives that surround us and explore the depths of our values, passions, and aspirations.

Authenticity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s an invitation to live in alignment with our inner truth and it’s a courageous act to rewrite the script!

So, I invite you to reflect on moments when the script seemed dictated by external forces. These instances, though challenging, are windows of opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Jonathan’s journey echoes the sentiment that rewriting the script is not just a courageous act but a necessary one. It’s about reclaiming authorship over our lives and crafting a narrative that resonates with our authentic selves.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull’s wisdom extends beyond the pages of a book; it echoes in the very core of our existence. His call to look beyond limitations and to “know what we can do in the air” inspires us to transcend perceived boundaries. It’s a beacon urging us to believe in the freedom to be ourselves, unapologetically and authentically.

As we navigate the year ahead, let’s carry Jonathan’s spirit with us. Let’s continue our journey of self-discovery and embrace the freedom to be authentically ourselves.
